Every August, BENMS holds a
Porsche get-together at the shops.
The primary purpose of the
gathering is for 944 owners to get hands
On experience with the tasks
necessary to keep their car functioning.
From teaching basic skills of
engine maintenance on a bench-top
Demonstration engine, to
providing an opportunity for those in attendance to
Try their hand at using the
Porsche P9201 tensioning tool, it is a day
Full of education and fun!
The first gathering was held back
in the mid 90s when there was a little
Known bbs called “Porsche fans”.
The total number of people in attendance was 3!
This was well before the shop
even came to be!
When the bbs disappeared, so did
the get-together.
Then in 2007, a group of people
from the Pelican Parts bbs came together
And the first Midwest GTG was
held at the
Attendance in 2007 was 6 people…
In 2008, that number grew to 12.
Planning has already begun for
the 2009 GTG to be held August 22 & 23.
